Main objectives
Accountant is required to work in a busy manufacturing company reporting to Financial Controller
Main Duties
  • Gathering and manipulation of management information for the production of monthly departmental management accounts and weekly cash flow forecasts within a strict timetable
  • Maintaining and the updating of basic accounting records, including cash / petty cash books and bank reconciliations with a view to updating the current system from manual to computer within a short time frame.
  • Maintain and control of bespoke trailer hire fleet database - updating additions / disposals, revenue and expenditure etc of the fleet and any other fixed assets as required.
  • Assist in the overseeing of the purchase/sales and nominal ledgers and all general accounting functions within the organisation.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, Statutory Accounts, VAT returns and Group consolidation Accounts.
  • Adhoc reporting and analysis of financial information, as and when required, To the management and The Directors.
  • Adhoc production of sales invoices, posting of purchase invoices, writing out cheques etc
The above list is not exhaustive and the successful candidate will be expected to undertake any other tasks required by the Financial Controller or The Directors.

Key Skills and Qualifications
Candidate needs to have good accounting background and would benefit from having some kind of accounting qualification to a minimum of AAT level and aspire to completing to CIMA or equivalent professional qualifications.

Microsoft Office - in particular, it is essential to have comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Excel.
